Dear Boston Public Schools Community,
The Boston Public Schools (BPS) and the Boston Teachers Union (BTU) are proud to support and celebrate all members of our school community. We are excited to announce that for the third year in a row, we will be marching in the 2019 Boston Pride Parade, the city’s largest annual celebration to promote visibility and acceptance of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ+) and their allies.
The theme of this year’s family-friendly event is, “Looking Back, Loving Forward,” to recognize the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City, a historical moment that led to greater acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community.
We ask any BPS students, staff, parents, guardians, and community partners to join us as we march in the 2019 Boston Pride Parade on Saturday, June 8, at 12:00 PM.
Click this link to register to march with BPS and the BTU, or visit the BPS Pride Parade web page for more information. You will receive information via email a few days before the parade with the exact meeting location once the parade lineup is released.
We encourage school and parent leaders to spread the word! If you are interested in forming a small group at your school to attend the parade, please do so and connect with us! Please email us with any questions at email@example.com.
In BPS, we are proud and grateful to live and work in a city and a school district that actively supports and affirms the identities of students and employees of all backgrounds, which includes race, language, socioeconomic status, immigration status, and sexual or gender orientation. An inclusive and affirming community is a strong community for all. We thank you for your support and hope to see you at the Pride Parade!
