Meet the teachers who lead our school.
Yolette H. Ibokette
Yolette Ibokette’s work in the field of education encompasses teaching and administration. Since 2017, she has served as the Co-Lead Teacher of the Boston Teachers Union Pilot School. From 2010 to present, Mrs. Ibokette worked in various administrative positions at a charter school and in the Boston Public Schools. For 18 years, Mrs. Ibokette taught English Language Learners in Malden and Cambridge Public Schools. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in School Leadership at Northeastern University with a focus on the academic achievement of Black male adolescents. She also holds a Master’s of Arts degree in Bilingual Education, a Master’s in Education Degree in Curriculum/Instruction and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Policy, Planning and Administration. Mrs. Ibokette is fluent in Haitian-Creole.
Amy Phi NGUYEN
Interim Co-Lead Teacher
Amy Nguyen has been a Special Education Teacher at the BTU School for the past 9 years. She has been teaching students with mild to moderate impairments ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grade in a substantially separate setting. In January 2018, she stepped in as the Interim Co-Lead Teacher. Prior to teaching at the BTU School, Amy was at the Josiah Quincy Elementary School as a Kindergarten and Special Education Teacher. Amy also holds a M. Ed in Community Arts and a CAGS in Educational Administration.
